this photo was taken only a couple of weeks after my girlfriend and i moved to london together. i was still in the phase of meeting people i vaguely knew from back home, one of which had a scottish boyfriend who invited us to this ceilidh, which is like a barn dance. we had a good time except that when we had to twirl down the entire length of the hall during the final dance i kept forcing my girlfriend into a spin that made her dress pull up. every time she protested i insisted, not understanding why she would want to do the dance incorrectly. these kind of miscommunications would mar our relationship for what turned out to be only five more months, and this would be the best snap i'd take the whole time.
